Action Rod for Ruger Precision and American Rifles
This rod will slip directly into the action of Ruger Precision or American Rifle models. This rifle action rod provides overall support for those needed barrel changes, giving the user the ability to swap the barrel with ease.
The rifle action rod has a flat mating surface that easily grips in a standard bench vise. On the opposite end, it has precision-matched external lugs. These lugs mate to the inside of the receiver at the exact spot of needed support.
This rifle action rod eliminates any need to grip the outside of the barrel, which could potentially mar the surface finish. It also removes unnecessary stress on the receiver.

Just what I need, for my work on Rugers.
Action Rod for RPR
Posted by Richard on May 12th 2020
I really needed this action rod for my RPR barrel swap. Online videos showing how easy changing out an RPR barrel with an armorer’s wrench and a barrel vice are misleading! Yep it’s easy once you break the barrel nut loose from the action. But that was almost impossible without a 3 foot cheater bar and a torch to warm things up a bit. I finally broke it loose by turning the nut away from the action towards the barrel stop but the action followed the nut. This isn’t supposed to happen. I couldn’t get the action and nut to separate. I ordered the action rod and had it in 3 or 4 days. With the action rod, barrel vice and armorer’s wrench I was able to separate the action and nut, then it all spun off by hand. The action rod was also very important to keep the action from rotating when setting the correct torque on the barrel nut after setting the headspace. The action rod is machined excellently to fit the RPR with very little play. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Must have in the toolbox!

If you are wanting to swap barrels you need this tool and a quality barrel nut wrench. Makes installing a barrel easy and puts no stress on the action like typical action blocks do.

Machining is of the highest standard. The rod fit in the action with little to no slop.
The two machined flats allow firm positioning while removing action. You should apply heat to the action propane only until it starts to sputter out the thread locking stuff used by Ruger. The nut is supremely tight otherwise.
The fitment of the bolt into the action where the bolt lug raceways are is a tight fit, very little movement allowing a good positioning of subsequent handguards if handguard nut requires a small amount of timing.
It is a fine product and a great addition to anyones tool box.
