**Ruger has recently updated their design for short action Ruger Precision Rifles. We are currently working on updated parts to accommodate their new firing pin design. Below is a picture of the new design (left) and the older (right) . If your short action RPR firing pin has the newer design (left), our aftermarket firing pins, and cocking pieces are not yet compatible. Please check back in a few weeks for compatible parts for the new design. (All Magnum aftermarket parts are still compatible with the Magnum RPR)**

AD Arms Billet Ruger Precision/American Rifle Cocking Piece

*NOTE* This firing pin back is not compatible with RPR/American rimfire rifles or the RPR magnum rifles.

This product is a billet RPR/American Firing Pin Back or cocking piece developed by AD Arms in response to the breakages many have experienced with the factory metal injection molded part. The design allows it to replace the factory part with ease.

This cocking piece is machined from a pre-hardened 4140 alloy billet. It is then nitrided for increased hardness, wear-resistance and corrosion protection. This fully-machined part will get the job done without risk of failure.

Furthermore, this firing pin back is lighter than the stock part. Because it is lighter, it increases lock-time performance while the hardness of the material decreases cocking effort.

I bought a Ruger American Ranch in 300 AAC that takes AR magazines. I dropped it in an MDT chassis and threw on a Timney trigger but the action was the only thing keeping this gun from being one of my favorites. I used some lapping compound and it helped to some extent but it wasn't until I found this cocking piece on Anarchy Outdoors that I truly love this action. I fancy myself a capable amateur gunsmith but this guy did give me some fits. The tool they sell to help with this install was necessary for my success in swapping these out. I tried wedging a flathead in there at first and gave up in frustration. While I was in there I swapped the bolt handle and knob out as well. Once all put back together I was blown away at the difference this piece made. Much smoother when resetting the trigger. Out of all the things I've done to this rifle the cocking piece really gave me the biggest bang for the buck. This is in my opinion a must have upgrade for anyone with a Ruger American.

The new cocking piece was straightforward to install and definitely smoothed out that rough cocking transition. The elk hunter was a 79 year old woman who greatly needed that improvement. A 1/4 lb decrease in trigger pull was measured also. Great job Anarchy!

Well made and eliminating the mold points weaking the Ruger original. Smoothed out the bolt closing considerably.
