About the Different Types of Atlas Bipod Feet

Let’s not mince words. There are many, many things for hunters to appreciate about Atlas bipods. The ability to configure the bipod with interchangeable feet is just one of them, but it is a big one.

There are three main types of bipod feet that the brand offers, which will be covered here, as well as their applicable use cases.

Rubber Feet

Atlas bipods typically come with rubber feet as a pre-set standard. Nonetheless, they are highly versatile and utilitarian on a wide range of different substrates.

These are your premier bipod feet if your shooting substrate or platform is not dirt. They’re ideal for benches and also suitable for hard finished surfaces like concrete, cement, asphalt, brick, wood, and other barriers. They also offer a non-slip grip on these surfaces, and moreover, won’t scratch delicate surfaces like wood.

That being the case, these rubber rifle bipod feet can also be used on wood found in the wild, such as downed trees. While rubber feet aren’t ideal on soft earth, they can be used relatively effectively on sand, dirt, mud, grass and elsewhere, if there is no other option.

Note also that Atlas sells replacement rubber feet for their bipods, so you can easily replace them if the feet wear prematurely.

These rubber bipod feet install easily thanks to the integral steel plunger. They are compatible with V8, PSR, CAL, and CKYE-Pod models, but they are not compatible with Harris bipods.

Spike Feet

In addition to its standard rubber bipod feet, Atlas bipods are also configurable with easy-to-install spike feet.

Spike feet (or more properly, Atlas Raider Cleat Feet) are made from one piece of 303 stainless steel bar stock. They are exceptionally strong and corrosion resistant and will tolerate harsh conditions in the field.

More important is their versatility with respect to the types of terrain on which they are suitable. They’re great on hard earth as well as on stone, (though rubber feet are good for this as well) and are also effective on all surfaces that require a little bit of pointed traction. This includes wood, but note that the feet will scratch soft surfaces. They’re also highly effective on ice and hard snow. They can be effective on soft earth as well since, despite the fact that the point will sink in, the flange at the base of the foot will help stabilize the bipod. In short, they’re effective on a wide range of surfaces and terrains.

Like the rubber feet compatible with Atlas bipods, these Raider Cleat Feet are easy to install thanks to the integral stainless steel plunger and are specifically designed for compatibility with Atlas V8, PSR and CAL bipods.

Ski Feet

Select Atlas bipods are also configurable with ski feet, which feature a completely articulated and smooth foot which can be slid on smooth surfaces to adjust the rifle. These ski feet are suitable on soft earth, snow and finished surfaces (like benches) where a wider, flatter base is necessary to stabilize the rifle.

They can also be effective on grass and on smooth, soft surfaces where other feet (like spiked feet or even rubber feet) might sink in too far.

Like the other Atlas bipod feet mentioned here, they are easy to install with compatible models, and will work with V8, PSR and CAL models.

What Else Atlas Bipods Offer

While configurability with different types of feet suitable with a wide range of different surfaces and substrates is one of the key drivers of value and performance in Atlas bipods, there is more that drives value in them as well.

Models like the Gen 2 CAL (for “Cant and Lock”) bipod sport lightweight yet rugged construction from lightweight yet strong anodized 6061-T6 aluminum with stainless steel components and are adjustable for both cant and height.

These Atlas bipods are also adjustable with 5 leg positions and can be customized with optional leg extensions. In addition, they are compatible with ARCA and select lever mounts, as well as BT19 and BT21 spigots.

Highly adjustable, easy to mount, practical on a wide range of surfaces and in varied conditions, and made from extremely durable yet lightweight and corrosion resistant alloys, Atlas bipods are among the most valuable and versatile rifle bipods in the industry, bar none. They are highly utilitarian for hunters, competitive shooters, and others committed to the shooting sports, regardless of discipline.
