About the KRG Echo Chassis

We all know and love wooden gunstocks, up to a point. But there is also a point at which the weight, maintenance, lack of adjustability and expandability, and worst of all, shifts in response to changing atmospheric conditions catch up to the limits of our sensibility.

They may look beautiful, but wooden gunstocks just lack the practicality and performance of modern synthetic chassis that serve as alternatives to them.

One such shining example is the KRG Echo chassis. Here’s a high-level snapshot of what this chassis offers and why it’s better than the wooden gunstocks it’s intended to replace.

No Bedding Required

Bedding a rifle barrel and action refers to ensuring that the stock is properly matched to them and supports them adequately without imparting any undue forces on them. Some stocks and actions require bedding, others do not. In the case that they do, a trip to a gunsmith is necessary to ensure proper installation.

The KRG Echo chassis does not require bedding, which means that you can remove a compatible action, trigger and barrel from a rifle and install them in a KRG Echo at home with only basic tools and no overly special skills. That makes this a cost-effective and relatively straightforward rifle upgrade. It’s also compatible with both long and short rifle cartridges.

High-Strength

The KRG Echo chassis is made from a high-strength polymer with an internal 9.5” aluminum backbone that fully supports the action. The Echo also comes with a stainless steel recoil lug that is extremely strong.

This stock not only surpasses the strength and stability of wooden stocks, but outperforms the factory stocks of rifle platforms with which it is compatible, like the Tikka T3 and T3X series of rifles.

Low Maintenance

Being made of a high-strength, low-weight polymer with aluminum and stainless steel internal components, the KRG Echo chassis system requires very little maintenance in order to deliver superior performance.

This stands in serious contrast to wooden gunstocks which must be kept clean, dry, and stored under optimal conditions so as to forestall wet and dry rot along with UV-induced photodegradation. Given the fact that your rifle’s trigger, action and barrel will require the lion’s share of cleaning and maintenance, upgrading to a stock that’s fairly hands-off with maintenance offers a lot of value.

greater accuracy

Greater Accuracy

Arguably the greatest selling point of the KRG Echo chassis is that, being made from polymer and aluminum, it is free from the greatest detriment that plagues wooden stocks: shifts in atmospheric conditions like temperature and humidity that compromise accuracy.

When a wooden stock experiences shifts in temperature or humidity, it will warp, either through thermal expansion or contraction, or through the absorption or release of atmospheric moisture. This twists the stock and puts pressure on the action and barrel.

Normally, the changes in pressure on the action and barrel are very slight, but even the slightest change will shift the point of impact imperceptibly, and that will cause accuracy to suffer. At the very least, the rifle will not exhibit the same consistent reliability as might be warranted.

The polymer of a KRG Echo chassis will not shift or warp in response to changes in atmospheric conditions and in fact is optimized for minimal heat transfer, regardless of the conditions. This makes it not only more comfortable to shoot gloveless but also ensures that the point of aim will not shift.

The end result? A rifle that is not only more consistent but more accurate, regardless of the weather.

Small Profile Barrels

Optimized for Small Profile Barrels

The KRG Echo chassis was expressly designed for rifles with small profile barrels, making it ideal not just for the Tikka T3 series but also for platforms that fit varmint barrel contours.

Expandability

One thing that many stock rifle barrels lack is the ability to expand with attachments and shooting accessories. The KRG Echo chassis does not suffer from this deficiency.

The KRG Echo chassis sports numerous mounting holes on the forend including an L2 Picatinny rail that’s perfect for attachments like a bipod. There are also sling swivel mounts on the butt and forend, along with M-LOK slots along both sides of the forend, perfect for mounting other shooting accessories.

Adjustability

When it comes to precision rifle shooting, little is more important (besides consistency) than how precisely you can adjust the rifle to the shooter. The KRG Echo chassis offers a great deal of value on this front as well.

The Echo comes with an adjustable cheekpiece with about an inch of travel that makes it easier to adjust comb height to the shooter’s dimensions. In turn this makes it easy to align eye relief and comb height with the shooter’s needs.

In addition, the stock is compatible with KRG length of pull spacers and hardware, upholding an even greater degree of adjustability. Being able to adjust LOP is one of the main metrics of rifle adjustability and a necessary aspect of a rifle stock that’s built for a high degree of accuracy.

Overall, the KRG Echo is designed to uphold a high degree of adjustability to the shooter’s dimensions, enabling great accuracy and precision, more comfort shooting, and less shooter fatigue.

A rifle that enables adjustability to the dimensions of the shooter will require less compensation from the shooter, enabling easier, more natural shooting and much greater accuracy overall.

Recoil Absorption

Lastly, the KRG Echo chassis sports hole spacing that’s compatible with KRG butt pads that can help absorb recoil, which is a big bonus for recoil sensitive shooters.
