Because of the extra length of Anarchy Outdoors' RPR Rimfire extension, the shooter can drop the mag without removing their hand from the grip, creating a smooth operation for any shooter.

Installation is straightforward and possible to complete at home. With the factory mag release pin and the provided spring, the release stays securely in place.

This extended magazine release is the perfect addition to every Ruger Precision Rimfire Rifle. It meets the mag exchange needs for everything from competitions to practice sessions.

Whale Tail Installation

  • First, it's your responsibility to ensure your firearm is unloaded.

  1. Ensure the safety is on.

  2. Unscrew the action screws from the bottom of the firearm.

  3. Press up on the mag catch housing to release it.

  4. Using a punch pin set, push out the pin holding the mag release into the housing. (Note: pushing out the pin shouldn't require any hammering; do it by hand.)

  5. Unscrew the Whale Tail to allow an easier install.

  6. Install the Whale Tail straight piece in the same manner that the OEM came out. (Note: Ensure that the pin goes through all OEM hardware that is also held into place by the pin.)

  7. Ensure the spring has not bent during the install process. If it has, you can often reposition it using a small punch pin.

  8. Screw the Tail portion of the extended mag release back into the straight piece.

  9. Reinstall the action screws.

  10. Test to ensure everything works properly.

Excellent quality. Came in a timely manner after I waited to be informed via email it was back in stock. Took about 5 minutes to install. Makes magazine changes smoother. No more fidgeting with the mag. Drops straight out. Can't recommend it more highly.

This is a must have for the RPRR. The mags actually drop out easier than before. Great quality and price.

    This is definitely a very effective replacement for the original that comes with the rifle. I gave it 4 stars for the following reasons;

The spring that you see in the product description was unnecessary and just complicated installation. I removed it and the release works just fine using the spring in the mag catch. In addition, I searched all over the AO website and YouTube for an installation video and found none.
Nevertheless, if you don't have one of these (and need it during a match - ask me how I know), do yourself a favor and order it.

this is an excellent item. the only problem I have with the tutorial on how to install it is that your man skipped the first step and since I have not used the rifle this was to be installed in I had no idea that the rifle had to be put in the safe position in order to release the pins holding the stock to the barrel assembly. I am not a gunsmith and I got pretty frustrated trying to get these two pieces apart. can't install mag release unless it is apart. about half way through the video the guy lets you know that he forgot to tell you in the beginning to put the gun in safe or it will not come apart. after I put the gun in safe and got the upper and lower apart, no problem. works beautifully.
